This paper begins by recognising the demands of the skills needed for the future workplace. It explores fieldwork as a vehicle to facilitate inquiry-based learning for the development of scientific processes and thinking skills. It also describes how technology can be harnessed to facilitate fieldwork activities. It concludes with a discussion on the learning points gathered from a fieldwork conducted by teachers.
