Throughout their existence manufacturing organizations have had to deal with competitive pressures and high levels of uncertainty. They have always been made aware that flexibility and speed of response to market changes, as well as the ability to innovate in product and process technologies and methodologies, were determining factors for their survival. Recent changes brought in with globalization introduce further demands to ensure competitive sustainability. GEM (Global Education in Manufacturing) project is a novel approach, creating a digital business and manufacturing curriculum framework, pedagogic approaches, contents and delivery that may be endorsed on a global scale.
