A Novel Blind Estimation Algorithm of Timing Offset for PCC-OFDM System

Abstract

A novel blind estimation algorithm of the timing offset for polynomial cancellation coded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (PCC-OFDM) system is presented in this paper. The estimation is carried out in the time domain. A timing metric function on the characteristics of PCC-OFDM system is constructed in the time domain. Meantime, the correct timing point is calculated by extending a timing metric, which leads to no training symbols, pilot tones or cyclic prefix extensions required. Simulations show that the estimation in the time domain can overcome the repetitive computation more efficiently than in the frequency domain.
