Abstract

Resource scavenging systems present a new opportunity in the area of distributed computing. This paper discusses the results of initial research in the area of performance anal ysis for such systems. The work is presented in 3 parts describing : (1) an approach to producing generic test sets, (2) a basic prototype resource scavenging system based on MPICH and (3) an analysis of test results combining theo retical estimates and actual measurements.
