A CMMI-based Self Evaluation of Capability Maturity Level for Software Organizations

In this paper, a simple mathematical model for measuring the degree of achievement in software process improvement facilitating organizations in pursuing CMMI is presented. The model, followed Wang and King's mathematical model [5], apply to CMMI-SE/SW, Version 1.1. We treat process areas as a set of orthogonal vectors. Then compute an overall achievement indicator based on this concept. We also provide a simulating implementation example of the model. Software organizations can somehow follow the same procedure to adjust their paces in improving their software processes.
