Abstract

The current socio-economic trends in Europe call for an adult education policy which is focused on the individual learner. The learning environment must be flexible and adaptive in order to cater for the individual needs and circumstances [1]. Cairns (2001) argued that since most applications of online learning dealt with adult learners in adult context, there was a need to observe or follow adult learning principles [2]. Social, economic, educational and other factors are individual to each learner, and all of them should be observed while designing online material. We should care not only about the learning message, but about the forms of delivery and the user possibilities to transmit and receive this learning message.
