Abstract

This paper deals with a development of a computational model to predict and analyze the flow behavior in a channel system in a parallel configuration between two headers. The effects of non-uniform input heat load within the channels, the inlet sub-cooling and channel orientation were accounted for. Simulations for a five channel system were done to prove the effectiveness of the proposed approach for flow distribution prediction. The results achieved clearly demonstrate the influence of the inlet sub-cooling and the non-uniform heat load on the flow distribution in a channel system. Also, comparisons of results between the channels with different orientation were done.
