Hippocampal EEG, ICA, Coherence Analysis
This paper presents the result of employing independent component analysis (ICA) in multichannel EEG recorded from hippocampal subfields at CA1 and the dentate gyrus during REM sleep. The fastICA algorithm was employed to remove possible cocktail party phenomenon that might have occurred during recording. Multichannel spectral analysis was performed afterwards. It was found that, after removing any potential cocktail party phenomenon through ICA, power spectra still show strong rhythm pattern in each channel for animals of and days of age, suggest ing that hippocampal subfields CA1 and the dentate gyrus can independently generate EEG pattern.
