A Transformation to a Stably Decouplable Form for Simultaneous Decoupling and Pole Placement

A stably decouplable state space form is presented in this paper. It is shown that simultaneous decoupling and pole placement can be done without cancelling invariant zeros for all systems in this form, important especially in the case of unstable invariant zeros. A similarity transformation to the stably decouplable form is then presented, resulting in a closedform solution for the state feedback matrix of a system in a general state space representation.
