Abstract

In this paper we present an Evolutionary Algorithm adapted model for the population dynamic of the olive fly Bactrocera oleae (Gmelin). Adaptation is guided by simulation error of the population dynamic compared to field captures under one year of climatic data. The adaptation tool used is Genetic Algorithm, a specific branch of evolutionary algorithms. The adaptation targets the model parameters and transition functions. Adapted model offline and online simulations are presented. Furthermore, as an added benefit, the model can be adapted to insect subspecies in other regions not initially considered. The model's potential development, uses and extensions are also discussed.
