Abstract

This paper deals with leakage current measurements on epoxy resin post insulators. The measurements were performed in a time frame of one cycle of voltage application (50 Hz) and the insulators were contaminated from a compound of salt and kaolin. The investigation of the observed phenomena showed that the response to the applied voltage is linear at first and thereafter takes the form of pulses. Partial discharges and arcs are some of the most possible physical phenomena experimentally detected. The results are discussed and extensively analyzed.
