IEC61850, Unit Feeder Protection, Ethernet
The unit feeder protections are the primary protection of high voltage transmission lines. Protection signaling, or exchange of messages is the key of this kind of protections. Traditional protection signaling methods have some problems and defects. For example the exchange of messages is difficult, the configuration of devices is complex, the cost of devices is very high and the communication channels are unreliable when faults occur on power systems. A new signaling method, which transmits the protection signal over the Ethernet and employs the generic substation state eventGSSEmodel under the IEC61850, is proposed. The feasibility is analyzed. The basic structure of signaling system and the model of message is described.
