Abstract

The signal injection method is presented for line selection and location of permanent single phase-to-ground fault in distribution network with non-effectively earthed neutral. A special diagnostic current is injected to the faulted network through the faulty phase of potential transformer (PT), and then it is detected at the outlet terminals of feeders to identify the faulted one. Also, it is detected along the faulted feeder to locate the fault point. The feasibility of the method has been verified by field application in real power system.
