Abstract

This paper presents results of experimental research on the thermal phenomenon of stationary contacts (decouplers, fuse boxes etc). Temperature rise is investigated as it varies with the value of the DC current, under a constant clamping spring force. It seems that under nominal current operation the mathematical approach of the "temperature-time" characteristics (until the temperature on the breakable junction is stabilized) facilitates the thoroughness of the economic-technical calculation of the contacts described above.
