Power flow, Power distribution, Backward/forward method, Weakly meshed networks.
In this paper the load flow problem of weakly meshed distribution systems is dealt with. The considered systems are supplied by a single HV/MV source. The general solution method is an iterative forward/backward method, in which the state variables are the bus voltages. The meshed system is then turned into a radial system by means of some cuts and the injection of equal and opposite currents at the resulting sections; the breakpoint currents are evaluated imposing that, for the given currents distribution in the branches composing the mesh, the voltages at the two cut sections are equal in terms of magnitude and phase displacement. After the presentation of the general problem and of the state of the art on the subject, the equations allowing the obtainment, during the backward sweep, of the unknown quantities at the cut sections are developed in detail. The methodology has been implemented and applied so as to test its performances as compared to other methodologies developed for this kind of networks.
