WAP, WTP, TCP, WDLP, wireless networks.
This paper presents an analysis of the WAP transport capabilities provided by the WTP layer. We will present the main aspects of the existing WTP protocol in the WAP2.x specification and point out its inefficiency for applications such as file transfer and compare its performance with TCP. We then suggest solutions to improve its efficiency. First, we consider the WDLP protocol, a profiled TCP protocol and a modified WTP protocol. These three solutions are evaluated and compared with respect to throughput and bit error rate.
