Multiuser applications require security when giving users access to underlying data. Designers, using XML as the primary means to store data, need a mechanism that grants access to the contents of an XML document in a secure manner, especially when access to only part of a document is authorized. This paper deals with the problem of managing users and their authorizations to secure XML documents.
