LAN, Network sniffing, ARP, Promiscuous mode
Recently, `sniffing' has been increasing within local networks by misusing the carrier sense function of CSMA/CD, the basic principle of Ethernet, and packet filtering functions of TCP/IP. There is great concern that this will cause significant damage in the future. This thesis explains the cause of vulnerability within local network and presents a detection technique to identify malicious mode nodes.
