Digital libraries are already an important and useful technology for the distribution of a variety of types of information. However, augmenting the capabilities of current digital library systems in order to increase their support for information personalization could significantly increase their utility. This paper considers the information personalization process in digital libraries. In particular, it examines the feasibility of applying a particular approach for supporting information personalization to a digital library setting. A comparison of the similarities and differences between the digital library environment and the individual knowledge worker environment that the approach was originally intended for provides a framework within which relevant issues are discussed.
