Multimedia service is a basic service in modern digital library. In this paper, the multimedia service system we introduced can adopt multilayered server structure, implement multimedia service through file sharing, and achieve distributed management through centralized database management method. It fully implements the extensible distributed multimedia service, and largely reduces hardware requirements, and thus facilitates the usage of administrators and users.
