Abstract

The methods of software design and testing that is based on utilizing the visual thinking capabilities of the shape understanding system (SUS) is described. SUS is the system that possesses an ability to perform visual reasoning and visual inference. The new method of the description of the performance of the system is presented. In this method the performance of the system is described as a sequence of experts that are invoked to perform a specific task. This method makes it possible to describe the complex system in the unified notation of the invoked experts. This description will be further elaborated to supply tools for testing the complex system such as SUS. The testing a self-correcting mechanism is also presented. The self-correcting process is based on the generation digital object (the exemplar) and checking if the generated object is to be assigned to the appropriate class. In the case when generated object is assigned to the different class, than the class from which the object was generated, the name of the class to which an object is assigned is stored. The stored names are used to define as a set of possible classes to which an examined object will be assigned in the process of perception of SUS.
