Abstract

We present an improved and efficient implementation of an implicit surface-based geometric fusion algorithm for a hand-held 3D camera. The new compact and portable 3D camera is introduced and a short literature review of fusion algorithms is presented. An automated parameter selection and some optimizations to construct the implicit surfaces are described. A polygonization method has been tested on the integrated implicit surface to produce the final meshed model. Modifications to the algorithm are presented to suit the needs of the scanned data from the hand-held 3D camera. Fusion results and future works are also discussed.
