Abstract

Our aim is to perform the statistical analysis of series of objects characterized by their shape, either for tracking their deformation as a function of time, or for clustering them into different classes. We tested different descriptions of the object shape in order to check whether one of them is more appropriate for statistical analysis. We compared four descriptions: the silhouette, the coordinates of 300 contour points, the coordinates of 20 salient points and the whole Curvature Scale Space.
