Abstract

This paper describes different modelling techniques (based on AI and Alife) which allow to design virtual worlds, simulations of ecosystems or 3D computer animations. Virtual world modelling implies to provide a platform that allows the design of artificial environments as well as their inhabitants. Such a platform can be used to create a simulator which emulates a virtual ecosystem. The results of the simulator can be used either to produce a realistic 3D computer animation showing what happens in the artificial world, or to design computer games based on AI and Alife techniques.
