Abstract

This paper discusses the Generational Change Model in the software life cycle. This distinguishes the software life cycle from the engineering life cycle. It views maintenance not just as a phase in the engineering process, as it could involve a complete new engineering process. This paper outlines this new perspective, which could lead to a new generation of software engineering methodologies for analysis, design, project management, software estimation, and so on.
