Abstract

To deal with rapid increase in multimedia traffic in the Internet, some form of congestion control that is TCP friendly is required. Congestion control strategies can be classified as equation-based or AIMD-based, but they are typically evaluated only for wired networks. In this paper the TCP-friendliness and other performance metrics of AIMD-based congestion control in a wireless network are evaluated using simulation. It is found that AIMD(0.4, 0.875) provides the best overall performance.
