Home Automation, Universal Plug and Play, Communica tions and Computer Networks, Routing
Recent tendencies to integrate various kinds of embedded devices and consumer appliances into software systems have emerged from the ideas of pervasive computing. One particular domain in which this evolution offers many use ful possibilities is home automation. The EIB1 standard defines a home automation solution that consists of a net work of cooperating components with little computational power. In this paper, we present a solution for integrat ing the EIB home automation network with software using Universal Plug and Play. Distributed software that interacts with the home automation system, such as switching lights, controlling shutters and adjusting the heating, is easier to build when using our flexible router.
