This paper proposes a methodology to carry out the efficient realization of communication systems through an iterative process, which allows a rapid product implementation that can be improved in successive iterations. There already exist different proposals, each specially suited for particular environments; based on them we have established: the most adequate tasks succession for the realization of communications systems, and the model that best fits the system characteristics in each development stage. Nevertheless, special attention has been paid on system verification in all the methodology phases. In order to define a widespread tool, languages standardized by international organizations have been selected, and an automatic translation mechanism is proposed between system descriptions.
