Abstract

This paper proposes a new protocol for home network control and reports on the results of a simulation study undertaken to evaluate the performance of the Home Network Control Protocol (HNCP) under large traffic generated by high priority nodes. The HNCP is based on the four-layered protocol architecture. The simulation has shown that, when the throughput of the network is small, the delay is bounded for messages of all priority. As the throughput of the network increases to more than 80 %, the lower priority messages get queued at their nodes. This results show that the proposed protocol achieves high performance for home network control.
