Alignment, SONET/SDH, ATM, GFP, circuit design.
This paper treats the alignment problem for certain digital circuits. State machines for SONET/SDH, ATM and GFP are presented. Some properties and relationships of the general alignment are outlined, and a general temporal logical equation for alignment in synchronized circuits is formulated. This equation allows for a shorter design time than traditional methods.
