Manufacturing Scheduling, XML Modeling, Web-based Application.
Scheduling is a decision-making process that plays an important role in manufacturing system performance. In this communication, we propose a web-based system for manufacturing scheduling based on XML modeling and related technologies. The main purpose of this system is to enhance the task of solving scheduling problems. The system includes functionalities for specifying real scheduling problems, classify them according to a classification model, and provide access to scheduling methods for solving them. One can achieve this by accessing appropriate methods, which have software implementations, local or remotely available through the Internet. The system also permits introducing new knowledge, in an easy and user-friendly way, about scheduling problems, methods and their software implementations on the web.
