Feedback control, production rates, setup policies, hedging corridor. 1-
: This paper presents a comparative study between two control approaches based on the production and setup actions on a one machine two parts manufacturing system. The machine is subject to random breakdowns and repairs. The considered two control approaches were developed by using different feedback control formulations of the optimal control problem. Our objective is to show that the control policy developed in this paper by solving the associated Hamilton Jacobi Bellman equations of the problem, guarantee better performance (minimal incurred cost) than the control policy developed in other further works by solving the associated Bellman equations. Comparisons of the involved performances are illustrated through statistical tests and a simulation based experimental approach.
