Abstract

The three stage mean value engine model (MVEM) of an IC engine is first represented in Local Generalized Con troller Canonical Form (LGCCF) and then dynamic sliding mode control has been employed to effect speed and mani fold pressure trajectory tracking. The approach produces a dynamical discontinuous feedback which results in a chat ter free response. The particular choice of sliding surface is input dependent. Air-fuel ratio is stabilized to its ideal sto ichiometric value by using an appropriate sliding surface.
