Abstract

As IP version 6 (IPv6) gains acceptance, there will be a period of transition during which hosts using IP version 4 (IPv4) will wish to establish sessions with hosts using IPv6. We outline the steps that must be taken to make such sessions possible. We report on the construction of an ex perimental system to verify the requirements, outline the solution to some application-layer problems, and speculate on the solution to the rest of the problems identified.
