Abstract

The downlink signal in a CDMA system is the sum of many components, associated to the different users. For this reason, it has high envelope fluctuations, and a high PMEPR setting strong linearity requirements for the BS power amplifiers. We propose and evaluate a new signal processing approach for reducing the PMEPR of CDMA signals with a large number of users. Our performance results show that we can reduce significantly the PMEPR of the transmitted signals, while maintaining the spectral occupation of the corresponding conventional CDMA signals.
