Abstract

We present a method for estimating the bit error probabilities of direct-sequence code-division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems based on the Improved Gaussian Approximation (IGA) and Chebyshev interpolation. The method uses up to the fourth moments of the underlying random variable in the IGA. The method is computationally efficient and does not have the shortcomings of an existing Simplified Improved Gaussian Approximation (SIGA) for the bit error probabilities. Computational results show that the method is much more accurate than the SIGA, especially so when the number of users is small.
