Audio Compression has reached a high level of maturity. Using principles of psychoacoustics, transparent quality at over fifteen times compressions is possible today. The state-of-the-art in audio compression, at present, is Advanced Audio Coding (AAC). While the AAC standard is definite enough to ensure that a valid AAC stream is correctly decodable by all AAC decoders, it is flexible enough to accommodate variations in implementation, suited to different resources available and application areas. In this paper, various modifications of the Low Complexity AAC encoder are presented in order to cater for computational efficiency or low-delay demand.
