Abstract

A novel ASE noise reduction technique by using optical time-gating detection is proposed. The noise reduction is achieved because the time-gating possesses the discrete spectrum. And the proposed concept is experimentally verified in optically preamplified 10 Gb/s RZ-signal direct-detection systems.
