Method of Lines, Packed Bed, Transport Process
The application of the method of lines to the dynamic behavior of an axisymmetric multicomponent packed bed reactor is demonstrated. The importance of several key issues, including restatement of the energy balance in order to separate hyperbolic terms, the different numerical treatment required for those terms, and the proper formulation of boundary conditions is discussed. Simulated results demonstrated for a two-gas, single liquid system show physically credible behavior and excellent numerical properties.
