-- A load-flow tracing algorithm is presented in this paper for analyzing power transfer capability of power transmission systems operating under critical conditions. The new algorithm is derived based on Kirchhoff's Current Law, graph theory and data structure manipulation. It provides an efficient and intuitive way to identify key load flow paths that affect the power transfer limits. It is designed to trace both real and reactive current flow in the system. Testing results obtained by applying the algorithm in the IEEE 14 and 30 bus systems confirm the effectiveness of series compensation on the key paths.
