A series of linear bi-stable electromagnetic actuators in aspects of their configuration, principles, characteristics, design and testing are presented in the paper. Although the original development was targeted for the driving of a vacuum switch in a high power system, the various electromagnetic actuator designs are applicable to many other applications.
