Abstract

--This paper presents an investigation on the suitability of switch reluctance machines (SRM) in distributed generation systems. Beginning with a review of the definition of the distributed generation, various types of distributed generation, particularly wind energy, are described. This paper also explains methods of production of wind power, switch reluctance generator (SRG) model, and operation of SRG. In addition, suitability of SRM in generation of the wind power, SRG Control, as well as advantages and disadvantage over the conventional techniques of power generation are presented.
