Abstract

The focus of the paper concerns the technical conditions and the nature of power oscillations in real systems. The problem of power system oscillations in modern electric power systems is discussed thoroughly in the paper. Parallel operation of generation units may result in unexpected power and frequency oscillations. The presented analysis provides a complex picture of the reasons and the modes of power oscillations.. The paper provides some simulation results with respect to one of possible causes of the oscillations. The likely reasons for oscillatory modes resulting from load-frequency control actions are illustrated and discussed.
