Abstract

The loss and efficiency of permanent magnet synchronous motor is an important research content of motor design. High loss and low efficiency results in serious heat generation, waste of resources, reduced service life of the motor, and even affects the safe and economic operation of the motor. The loss and efficiency characteristics of novel flux adjustable permanent magnet synchronous motor under different operation speed conditions are investigated. The structure and magnetic field regulation principle of the permanent magnet synchronous motor is introduced and analysed. The changing discipline of core loss, winding loss, total loss, power factor, and efficiency are obtained based on finite element method. The change of loss and efficiency characteristics at different operating speeds shows that the permanent magnet synchronous motor has good heat dissipation and high efficiency characteristics, which ensures the efficient, safe, and stable operation of the motor for electric vehicle drive.
