Voltage source converter, fuel cell, wind energy, least-mean-square method, renewable energy system 166
To achieve reliable supply to meet the ever-growing electricity demand, this article presents a novel control algorithm for renewable energy sources (RES) interfaced-utility-interactive voltage source converter (VSC). The RES such as wind power generation system and fuel cell are integrated with the VSC to provide a sustainable solution. To design a reliable system, an accurate control algorithm of VSC, control of AC- and DC-bus voltages, and good quality of power at the customer end is highly required. Thus, to achieve this, a novel adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system hyperbolic tangent based least-mean-square (ANFIS-HLMS) multi-objective algorithm is developed and implemented for VSC control, which exhibits stable operation under steady-state and transient conditions. The proposed VSC controller ensures the supply of good quality voltage to the consumers and compensates reactive power through VSC. Furthermore, the designed controller has relatively simple architecture and gives faster computation and convergence rate. This article also illustrates the comparative analysis between the proposed ANFIS-HLMS system, with conventional fixed-step LMS and variable-step LMS algorithms.
