Evaluation, soil pollution, heavy metals, grey relational analysis
A grey relational analysis (GRA) has been used to evaluate soil contamination recently. In this study, the GRA model combined with geographic information system (GIS) was successfully used to evaluate the soil environmental quality. We analysed seven trace elements (As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Hg, Pb, and Zn) that are indicators of soil contamination in the agricultural area of the Shunyi district of Beijing, and the GRA and geochemistry mapping was used to evaluate the pollution level of heavy metals in soils. Results revealed that 1.94% of soil samples contained a low pollution level (grade III soil). Spatial distribution of heavy metal pollution levels in soils of the studied area indicated that the environmental quality of most of the areas was at a safe level. There were some zones with low pollution levels at the northwest and central locations in the studied area.
