Abstract

The topology of three-phase three-level (3L) diode neutral-point clamped pulse-width modulation (PWM) rectifier is presented. First, detailed principle of traditional 3L space vector pulse-width modulation (SVPWM) is analysed, with its disadvantages introduced. Then, a simplified 3L SVPWM based on 60◦ coordinate system is presented. The algorithm is able to simplify the vector-selecting process and eliminate complex trigonometric calculations, thus improving the efficiency. Based on these characteristics, this 60◦-coordinate-system- based SVPWM can also apply to multi-level inverters and rectifiers. Finally, the simulation model using voltage-oriented control strategy for the three-phase 3L voltage-source PWM rectifier is set up. Simulation is carried out to validate the effectiveness of the proposed 60◦-coordinate-system-based SVPWM algorithm.
