Abstract

A lab-on-chip device used for separating and detecting circulating tumor cells is going to be designed. An array of self assembled ferromagnetic structures is built inside a microfluidic channel acting as an adaptable trapping net for circulating tumor cells, which exist very rare in blood of cance patients. The shapes of the ferromagnetic structures can be modified and controlled by an (or a set of) applied external magnetic field(s). Simulation models and a preliminary chip design in centimeter scale are presented.
