Abstract

Determination of minimum loss feeder reconfiguration is an impor- tant step to achieve economy and efficiency in the operation of distribution systems. This paper presents a simple, efficient and direct method for minimum loss radial feeder reconfiguration. The method is based on the optimality condition, which has been de- rived analytically using incremental complex power concept. The applicability of the method has been investigated on different small to medium size distribution systems and the results are presented. A comparative study is also carried out with previously reported methods. The results of the study show that the proposed method is promising and has the potential to be used for on-line applications.
