A virtual enterprise is a networked alliance of cooperating enterprises that have common goals for a limited period of time. The paper discusses the modelling of a virtual enterprise as a multi-agent system by presenting a complex application from the housing domain, and focuses on the added value of learning capability inclusion in such a system. A real-world agent-based virtual enterprise, VIRT_CONSTRUCT, is used as a case study.
